Feeling bad about Midterms

I felt bad, and still is, when I've found out that a considerable number of students from the other class in our Sales passed the exams and even their midterm grade, when there's none in our class who passed the exams, though there's someone who got 75 in his midterm grade. I just felt bad for the class. Parang lumalabas tuloy 'boplaks' kami, as one of my blockmate has put it. I even opened the issue that the block is always being given professors who are far more terrorizing than with other sections, but though it's an advantage, as the training is far better..

I am somehow motivated to study HARDER, lalo na ngayon that professors seem to have agreed to terrorize and give us a hard time! Enough of too much sleep, of too much procrastination, of too much laziness.. Aral to the max na talaga, and study smart and memorize, memorize a lot and analyze harder!

Well I just hope the class would do good in the finals! God Bless to us!

Update. Update..

Well this is just an update of me after one week.

Well Monday, September 3 it was a free day for us blockmates since Atty. Delson was lazy to hold class and Judge Palamos even did not go to class, so we decided to have a few drinks at Molokai. It was a stress reliever for me somehow..

Friday was a surprise for me! After a meeting with the LSG of San Beda Law, Francis told me that I need to go to the office, and right there, me and shemyl took an oath as the San Beda law Alabang representatives. It was a surprise for me, and a little bit embarrassed during the "ceremony" as it was being documented through pictures and video. Haha! I was an instant member of the LSG without however being voted for by the law students and without actually knowing what are my responsibilities, which I presume is merely to be informed of the LSG's activities and plans and relay it to Alabang Law students. As I have said in my previous post/s before it is really hard for me to accept the fact that I always act as a leader that's why I am a little bit passive. I guess I have to try now to accept that fact and be more active and do justice with the position and the responsibilities it entails.

Saturday, 9.08.07 was a great experience. Teta, Nil, Mari and me, (hay Mike and Ivan didn't go with us! haha! it's their lost anyway! but it's ok with me, they have their preoccupations, most especially Mike which I understand more, since he is living alone in his apartment, since his family's away from him.. His time is very much precious for him just to sacrifice.. but still it was still fun if they had the chance to come with us..) Anyway, I was lucky enough to experience what the members or volunteers of the barops committee do to support and assist the barristers. I even deliver food to a barrister in his room.. After the service to the barristers, and eat our dinner, we had dessert and went to Mall of Asia to meet Hazel. We headed to Pier One after. When we went back to Diamond Hotel, Mari was not feeling well already so we decided to go home..

Well I hope when we will be the ones who will be doing the barops upon separation of Alabang with Mendiola then it would be an advantage that we experienced how the activities are being done..

That's for now!

Maybe my Last Post... for now.. until this Semester Ends!

Well. This probably is the last time I'm going to write a blog for the time being.. Back to review for the midterms! And I wanna do good badly! It's not that I want to impress people, it's just that I want to challenge myself. I want to prove myself that I can do better than the past semesters! I am just praying that everyone most especially my friends would do good as well in the exams..

I kinda feel irritated when you get to mingle with a person who appears to care for him/herself alone.. Kumbaga, sarili nya lang iniintindi nya and ginagawa nya ang mga bagay-bagay just to satisfy him/herself. Minsan siguro we just have to think for others sake as well din, hindi lang yung sarili natin right?! Give and take kumbaga, as much as possible you try to help others kung kaya naman, wag yung sariling kapakanan lang ang iniinitindi.. No man is an islang, and karma do exists!

Naisip ko lang? Tama ba ang pananaw na ito: "Hindi ako makikimingle with others that much, coz at some point these people would leave me.. Ayoko sa kanilang maging close, I don't want to invest emotions and friendships, coz I don't want to be left behind. I hate the feeling of losing someone.."

Hay, sa totoo lang I felt that way before, and it seems like the idea haunts me again.. Please help me Lord! I want to live in peace!!! ^_^

My 100th Post

This is my 100th post. Well, cheers to that! haha! Blogging really helped me a lot in expressing my thoughts, most specially when there's no one to talk to. Writing your thoughts "on-line" through blogging somehow relieves me in a way. It's like I have someone talking with and sharing my thoughts.. Thanks to blogger!

I'm happy with my friends in Law School. I love the bond we have. Thanks to Mike,Nil and Mari and others that I have the confidence to go on with Law School. I'm happy that I have found a support group. Studying was never fun since the bond we have created.

Last Saturday, we went to Mari's Caz' place in Batangas and sang our hearts in the videoke! It was a long road trip yet it was fun. Most specially when we head home. Nil was racing with someone driving a toyota corolla. It was fun when Dos decided to help Nil in beating the driver of the toyota corolla, and we did! haha!

Law School: I was called in LTD, the last one! haha! It was like a guessing game for me.. Kamusta naman kasi ang pinagtatanong ni Judge Serrano, pang Civil Procedure na.. Anyway, it's ok, since I just slept in the library instead of studying and at least I don't have to worry next meeting.. =]

It was somehow a relaxed-week in law school.. We didn't have class in property, only a quiz.. We didn't have Sales and Banking! haha! The funny thing is during our negotiable instruments, I was somewhat scolded by Atty. Cabaneiro for wearing a t-shirt! haha! So, come thursday, Mike and I had a shopping spree! yihee! I bought five polo shirts and a new pair of shoes! The budget of P4,000 seems not enough! haha!

Hay, the house in Hillsborough is almost finished.. We're moving out soon.. I have mixed feelings, somehow, I have precious memories here in our house in Gruenville.

Well this is it for now.. =]

A Week-long Update

I really hate my subject property. It’s like I cannot comprehend that much the provisions of the Civil Code regarding that. And my professor, I think is just playing on us. I mean from the way he throws questions at us, which actually I never thought would be asked by a professor like him, who happens to be a bar topnotcher. So I really have to make it double or triple time in studying.

With regard to my Sales class, it seems that my professor is not that hard on me when he calls me for recitation. I don’t know if I’m just lucky or he intentionally make it easy for me. Is it because I am the beadle of the class? I hate to think this way, but the thing is I’m happy that I don’t lose the momentum so far in studying. I like the way my professor in Sales ask questions which actually don’t have any correct answers. I like his objective of making us analyze and argue. Aside from the fact that I find him lenient when it comes to recitations. But I’m not satisfied with my last recitation with him, “so sabog” hehe!, I should really be ready for anything. I was ready for an argument on the three conflicting cases regarding Article 1479 of the Civil Code, however I was asked instead of another case, how could I forget that Serra vs. CA case!, I was an idiot! I was the one who digest it, and all of a sudden when I was called to recite it I rattled! Anyway, I was also surprised to recite Article 1480 of the Civil Code! That was really unexpected, good thing I managed to recite the provisions. I just got confused when he asked me what’s the general rule and exception with regard to the risk of loss at the time of perfection of the contract but before delivery of the thing. Well, I was dumbfounded for a few seconds, and actually inventing a new doctrine! Haha! Good thing, there really is no general rule and exception, since the provisions covering those were really irreconcilable, citing that the Civil Code was based on numerous foreign Codes.

Hay, Election Law! I was somehow prepared for the recitation last Tuesday but a quiz was instead given by my professor, ‘cause he’s rushing to get the COMELEC resolution for his client Koko Pimentel. Anyway, I’ll fail that quiz! I don’t know all the seven commissioners of the COMELEC! Whoah! Unexpected again!

Criminal Procedure last Monday made me dizzy! With all due respect to those who recited, I’ve learned that it’s still good to know enough, rather than to know a lot. I’ve learned that humility is a value that every law student should learn or I think everyone for that matter. Being humble that you don’t know everything in a subject matter would lead to enlightenment at the end of the day. I’ve learned that settling with the basics is safer than going for more.

I like Atty. Cabaneiro! Aside from giving us a time off to relax a bit, with his absence, I’m quite surprised that he asked me only a few questions when he called me for recitation last meeting in Banking, compared to others who were given a lot of questions to answer. I just found myself saying “yes” to him, while he discussed the whole part which I think I supposed to recite! Haha!

Well, I’m a little bit bugged by my conscience when I didn’t attend Ambassador Tolentino’s class! It was unfortunate for me that I stumbled upon him in the Cafeteria and the Law library. Haha! So kapal muks that I could still greet him when we crossed ways. Haha!

What a way to end the week with Judge Serrano! Haha! I don’t know what makes me so sleepy, this week, that I go to school as early as 7.30am and then spend most of my time sleeping! Haha! I even slept in the chapel this afternoon and opted not to study in LTD! Hay! Judge Serrano was really hilarious! His “angry tone” when he asked questions during the recitation was hilarious!

On the lighter side:

I was glad that Nil, Mike and I have successfully found a tailor shop to embroider the jacket we bought. Now the spirit of Law School is now with us when we wear it! Haha!

I was fond of teasing and making kulitan with Mike this past week! Haha! Anyway at least we forget the toxic readings when we do that haha! “Pampaalis antok at windang haha!”

Last Tuesday since we were dismissed early in Election Law and we don’t have classes the following day we went to Gerry’s Grill to unwind, and I was glad that I had a taste of beer again! Haha!

The following day I had fun when we distributed food to street children, “Lex Libris for a cause” as we dubbed it! Haha! The funny thing is the Lex Libris that we sold is not yet working haha!

Mike and I planned to watch transformers that same day but it’s not anymore showing in ATC Cinemas, we met Dos unexpectedly and we watched Die Hard 4 instead! The movie was good! We just rescheduled watching transformers, which actually is supposed to be today. But unfortunately, the screening time of the cinemas did not match our schedule. Mike and I just had a snack at Jollibee in Alabang. But it was still relaxing though, as we had the time to talk and share a lot of stories.

Hay! What a way to end the week! After arriving at home, I’ve made a skin theme for my phone, find cases, check emails and then sleep. It was just strange that I woke up at around 11pm at the same time receiving a text quote from a girl I courted for so long which did not materialize into a relationship! Wee!! It was strange!, receiving a text and the text quote itself from her.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Today is Independence Day. A day which is supposed to be a holiday for the Filipinos but for economic purposes it was declared a regular office day. A regular scheme followed by the GMA Administration mainly not to disturb the economic activities in the country. Usually when the holiday falls on a day in the middle of a week then the MalacaƱang adjusts the celebration of the holiday and announces a long weekend.

I actually went to Mendiola, along with Ivan today to get the check for the funds which will be used in the freshmen orientation, since I am the finance committee head the check was named after me. I encashed it and then proceeded to Mari's house to hand it over to her for them to pay the downpayment for the food. Good thing we had a free lunch!

Anyway, talking bout independence, I have watched last Sunday in Y-Speak a segment about 'independent living'. This segment was really a slap on my face since like after college I thought of living independently from my family. But until now I am still living with them. But it's quite difficult to jump into a decision to be independent and I don't think I could cope with it right now since I am pursuing my dream of becoming a lawyer. I think I need my family, not just for the financial support they are giving me but the moral support as well. And besides I still want to support them also in their endeavors and help out in our business.

Today is the 109th Independence Day Celebration, and of course a lot of talk shits would be heard from our DEARLY BELOVED PRESIDENT, and I don't want to talk about it much less care to listen to her speech.

I think Filipinos though freed from colonialization are still slaves in our country. We are slaves of the promises of the politicians. Promises of a progressive country and a better life. We are slaves of corruption in the government, a very swift and surreptitious conqueror of every cent which we laboured for.

I hate the way our system of government works. I hate the freedom that the government officials has which they use to steal money from us. I hate the freedom that the government officials has to use power in order to curtail the justice system. I hate the freedom of those in power to steal the freedom of the Filipinos to voice out their grievances.

In my own little way, when I became a lawyer, I hope the freedom that was being abused by those in power could well be transformed into an upright freedom to give
to the people the freedom they truly deserve. The freedom to live a decent life.

Despite all of what I've said I am still proud to be a Filipino. I know we could stand up one day and be proud of country. I am positive about this, I know we could effect change!

Happy Independence Day!
