One of those Rare Nirvana covers, "Seasons in the Sun", original by Terry Jacks. This song was one of Kurt's favorite that's why he made a cover of it in 1993. They even switched instruments here, Kurt on drums, Dave Grohl on bass, Krist Novoselic on guitar.
Now, if you would analyze the song, it talks about death. How we should face our last days here on earth. If you'd glean from the first line of the song, it even says "Goodbye to you my trusted friend..", which Kurt changed to, "Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die.."
For some, Kurt's rendition of the song seemed like a suicide note, but for someone who has known Kurt Cobain through his journals, I won't agree with such statement. And if you're a fan of Nirvana and their music, you'll recognize how much contradictions there are in the lyrics of his songs. It's not that I want to imply that there aren't any truth about his songs and that we shouldn't believe whatever Kurt Cobain says in his songs. It's just that it supports the idea that 'what we say, may not always correspond to what we really think'. Speaking our minds is different from speaking the words coming out of our mouth.
And another thing, Kurt's songs are a bunch of poetry and whatever contradictions we may find in it only proves how great a musician he is!
Basta!!!! I firmly and strongly believe, with conviction and without any mental reservation that he didn't commit suicide, if he ever did, someone might have caused him to do it!
So here's this AWESOME VIDEO, and at the bottom Kurt's own version of the lyrics to the song..

Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky
and all the flowers are everywhere
pretty girls are everywhere
"Think of me and i'll be there."
goodbye, papa, please pray for me
i was the black sheep of the family
"I don't know all these words
I have bought three turds
With my BB-gun I would kill birds"
(This part is different in the nirvana version to the original version by Terry Jacks. The Terry Jacks version goes as follows:
"You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
I wonder how i got along")
we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time
All our lives, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the stars that we reached were just starfish on the beach.
goodbye, michelle, my little one
"I was the apple of the shining sun.
And I have loved you every week
All my tears are salty
I think that now I will start to leave"
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the stars that we reached were just starfish on the beach.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the stars that we reached where just starfish on the beach.
