The Cowboy Angel

I was really moved by this kid, Logan. I never thought a kid like him could utter the words he said. Poor me, I don't even spare some time to pray and go to the church and worship Him. Guess, Logan's a wakeup call for me..

An 'Ondoy' Commentary

"You don't need proof to show you care."

As I observe people in my community do their charitable works for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy, I can't help but wonder if these people have really good intentions, especially if this country is almost on its way to electing our new leaders. I can't help to notice that there are a lot of people with selfish interests, taking this calamity as an opportunity to gain some votes.

Not only that I am pissed by these political aspirants doing all the grand standing. I, too get annoyed by the fact that some of the people I know are doing all these support and assistance to the victims and brag about what they have just done. Talk about, documentations through pictures uploaded via their facebook, friendster and other social networking sites. (C'mon!! HINDI PHOTO-OPS ANG PINUNTAHAN NYO?!) And sorry, but I just don't like the fact that every waking hour one's status on facebook or twitter is about the fact that he or she did some good deed to the victims. And why in the hell does a TV Station has to update the viewers of how many people have they helped and how much donations they have solicited? I just don't see the point.

Why don't these people, follow the likes of FPJ who have been helping the people of Rizal for quite a long time without press coverage, even before he ran for President; or the late Rico Yan who has been instrumental to a number of youth organizations and who has helped a lot of less fortunates.

Well, 'to each his own'. But why don't people get the notion of humility? Even when someone wins a prize or an award in any competition he or she can be humble about it and not having to brag about his achievement. But damn!, doing something good for others and bragging about it, is something I cannot accept. The fact that a person participated in a good deed is something that others would be impressed about already. One need not be ostentatious and exaggerate about it.

Hay.. Sorry, it's just me.
