In the mid-1980s, Jackson was diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus; the vitiligo partially lightened his skin, and the lupus was in remission; both illnesses made him sensitive to sunlight. The treatments he used for his condition further lightened his skin tone, and, with the application of pancake makeup to even out blotches, he could appear very pale. The structure of his face changed as well; several surgeons have speculated that Jackson had undergone multiple nasal surgeries, a forehead lift, thinned lips and a cheekbone surgery.
@Acrylique Kuya Kim is that you?! -- ayus!! I know nga his surgery has something to do with a skin disease, now I know what's the name of the disease salamat sayu Kuya Kim. Tandaan ang buhay ay weder weder lang.. May jacko rest in peace!
I don't want to dwell on his appearance, or on how many surgeries he's had. I want to remember him for his music. He shattered the boundaries of race and color and conveyed realities with his songs. He is an earth-shaker; a mover; and his lyrics can provoke thought.
@Shattershards I agree, his music is a testament that one can be great no matter what youre appearance is or whatever your race is. Somehow he reunited the people of this world through his music.
@gesmunds Ive appreciated some of his songs, because my older cousins and my aunts and uncles have been playing his music in the house. Do you remember in college wherein our block has to present something for the English Week, I actually performed a dance number in tune of Jacko's song, it's black and white I think. hehe!!
